Balboa Island

Balboa Island is a harborside coastal community on one of the eight inhabited islands within the city. Accessible by Marine Street Bridge and the Balboa Ferry, the 2.5-mile long island is outlined with private and public boats and docks. A charming pedestrian boardwalk circles the island’s exterior, making it a favorite destination for locals and visitors to enjoy the boating activities in the bustling harbor. The community has an Americana flavor with a main street lined with shops, restaurants and famous frozen bananas. The quaint cottages and homes embody a range of architectural styles from the 1920s to 1940s situated side-by-side with recently built California Coastal Cape Cod styled homes.
